We’ve been biting our nails about this for weeks…the full weather forecast for the weekend is in!

Friday: a sun packed evening with a clear night sky. Saturday: Sunny spells in the day, cloudy night. Sunday: cloudy/sunny spells by day, possible isolated showers, dry night. Considering the past few months we couldn’t be happier with this, just in time too!

Check list:
- Our finest summer apparel for the days
- Something to wrap up warm in at night
- Sunglasses (but not at night, right?)
- Sun cream (even when its cloudy)
- Wellies (its better to bring them and not need them, good omen)
- Cagoule/brolly
- and fancy dress (of course!)

We’re almost there! Just seven days seperate us from a weekend of fun and adventure at Broughton Hall. These are our top ten reasons why The Magic Loungeabout is such a special festival.

1. Three Epic Headline Acts

Serious first night excitement as Nile Rodgers brings CHIC to the Loungeabout stage for a journey through some of disco’s greatest hits (he should know, he wrote them). Detroit’s Inner City headline Saturday ready for a long night of partying. Then we close with a bang on Sunday with The Charlatans playing their classic ‘Tellin Stories’ album and more hits.

2. Hotel Luxury Under Canvas

The Brook is our most sought after location: hot showers, private flushing toilets, free internet access, in-tent massages, tea & coffee, a dedicated concierge team and free breakfast from our friends at Rude Health, all accompanied by the morning papers. Campervan tickets have sold out so we’ve just added a few more 4m Bell Tents at £325.00 for the weekend (that’s just £27 a night between four).

3. Engage Your Mind, Engage Your Feet

By day the Food For Thought tent is a place to stretch your mind with talks by Stuart Maconie, Jon Ronson, Richard Fox, Pat Long and Bettacultcha. By night its taken over by clubs Pop Til You Drop, Death On The Balcony and Disco Mums for some serious dancefloor fun!

4. Extraordinary Arts

Leave the world behind at the entry gates with a diverse schedule of performance, arts and cinema at the Forest Fringe. We’re particularly excited about lighting up Broughton Hall each night – Friday night may see the biggest disco ball in the country!

5. The Best New, Upcoming And Local Bands

With Summer Camp, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Lucy Rose, Chew Lips, Cashier No9, Lets Buy Happiness, Mary Epworth, Jenny O, The Loose Salute, Shake Tiger Shake, Smoove & Turrell and Juan Zelada; the main stage is more than spoilt for quality. A wealth of upcoming and local talent also feature in the Forest Fringe tent.

6. Fun And Games

Bearded Kitten are back to bring their award winning brand of nonsense, using Yorkshire as inspiration for many new games including Gravy Wrestling, Tea Making, Hay Bale Rolling, Coal Carrying and Flat Cap Throwing. We’ll also be showing the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on a big screen on Friday night in true Lounger style.

7. Your Feet Are In Safe Hands

The “longest running weekly club night in the world” Back To Basics hosts The Super Club til the early hours each night with DJs Dave Beer, Buckley, Chris Duckenfield, PBR Streetgang and Frenchy & Tristian Da Cunha. Get a taste with this exclusive DJ mix from Buckley.

8. Food Glorious Food (And Drink)

A cornucopia of culinary delights! Pop up restaurants, continent covering takeaways, ice cream, bakeries, candy floss, tea and coffee as well as the bar selling our very own Summer Ale supplied by The Leeds Brewery and Monkey Shoulder dishing out whiskey! 9. Unwind

Treat yourself to a moment of pure indulgence at the Magic Spa. Buckley provides The Magic Loungeabout with an exclusive mix ahead of his set in The Superclub with Back To Basics!

Back in the early 90’s Buckley was resident for some of the most seminal nights in musical history, including The Hacienda and Renaissance. He’s also played alongside live acts Inner City, Ten City and was tour DJ to M People. He’s a key player in the scene and an admired remixer and producer too. Bow down to the original resident of the longest running weekly house night in the world.

Leeds Brewery Summer Ale

We’re delighted to announce Leeds Brewery is producing the official beer for this year’s festival – The Magic Loungeabout Summer Ale!

The beer will also be available in all Leeds Brewery pubs during July, and people who use the QR code on the pump clips and special beer mats to order their festival tickets, will receive a free pint of Leeds Brewery beer at the festival.

Extraordinary Additions To The Arts And Games Programme

With an already packed line up at The Magic Loungeabout, we can now announce that thanks to The Arts Council we’ll be taking our programme to a new level – we’ll even be transforming Broughton Hall itself like never before. This diversity further strengthens the festival and makes it truly unique to the region. Come and join the experience and leave the world behind at the entry gates!

The House Projection

We’re lighting up Broughton Hall like you have never seen before. Its called video mapping and you may have seen it during the Jubilee celebrations on Buckingham Palace. You can expect three different pieces to match each night’s headline act – Friday night may see the biggest disco ball in the country.

The Heavenly Court Of Madame Fantaisiste

A quirky interactive piece that includes The Rogue, The Joker and The Fool who cavort in the faded opulence of their luxuriant boudoir. Passers by are invited to partake in the courtly games and dances.

The Sneaky Experience

An adventurous pop up cinema experience with a difference. Carefully curated film happenings are brought to all ages, but the difference is actors will recreate scenes from the films themselves. A dressing up box is also provided for those who want to truly immerse themselves in the film being shown.

Alice’s Adventure’s In Wonderland

A new adaptation of Lewis Carol’s classic children’s novel. A magical musical romp through wonderland; expect original songs, dancing, puppets and all your favourite characters.

Hodman And Sally

These two interactive puppets will be walking around the site all weekend. They are two tiny backpackers from the country of Oblivia; an enchanting and funny performance like you’ve never seen before.

Bearded Kitten

The entertainment collective that turn an extravagant idea into the real thing, exploring the different ways people like to have fun. Adding to their classic games such as slippery tug of war, gravy wrestling and Yorkshire pudding eating comes the Yorkshire Heritage games. These include Human Sheep Herding, Knur and Spell and Conker Cuddling.

Suitcase Circus

Meet Wobulous Discombobulous the anarchic sock as he presents a line up of extraordinary talented performing objects, each with their own unique and captivating story lines. Inside the suitcase there’s a daredevil ski glove, a dancing milkshake straw and the hypnotic tie snake Windsor Knot accompanied by wonderfully weird and bizarre soundtrack.

Tailcoat Cabaret

Welcome on stage an entertaining group of objects who ooze attitude, sleaze, charm and an abundance of talent. Sometimes gritty, often mad, here you’ll find the anarchic sock again, but this time with new friends Madame Teapot the ‘stainless steel diva’ and Limbardo the fearless Italian driving glove.

Wise Birds

See the Wise Birds as you enter the arena with tails of places they’ve visited and wise (or not so wise) advice for the weekend ahead.

The Bee Detective

A children’s theatre show which invites young audiences and their families, both deaf and hearing, on an adventure into the inner sanctum of a beehive. It will evoke the sights and sounds of a hive through inventive new technology and creative capturing. This show encourages the audiences to play detective and discover why bees are under threat.

The Blue Whale

Welcome to the smallest theatre in the world! The Blue Whale is a metal whale which swallows audiences whole. Inside a love sick mariner will sing songs and hand you a personal message to take away. Its your very own performance and each one is unique.

Dangerous Dave

He’s actually more daft than dangerous. He has a sidekick called Herbert Lemon and together they perform some of the most mind bendingly silly stunts ever performed. Marvel as he fights his way out of a paper bag, and plunges himself into a domestic food processor. We said he was daft.

TML Visits Meadowhall, Sheffield
